Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I need to replace my ECT sensor on my 2019 Dodge Caravan. It appears I will
need a special tool. Before I start on it does anybody know if a special removal
tool is needed? It is in a hard to reach location (of course).

Your dealer has the tools and they should do it under warranty if that is the issue.

Sorry, having to do myself since I am 28 miles from the closest dealer. That is why I ask.

Post a photo so we can see what kind of fastener is holding it down.

28 miles? Heck I am that far from the nearest grocery store. Car dealers are at least 70 miles away.

Far enough to burn up an engine if it overheats...since the gauge doesn't work when the sensor is out. No thanks.

Looks like a wrench is all that's needed. Or perhaps a deep well socket. Hope that helps! Jim

I was wondering also about the clip. Is there a special tool for it? I really can't see how or what it's connected to. Its above the sensor.
