I just bought a 2001 Mitsubishi montero and there is a vibration when you are between the speed of 40 to 45 miles per hour any suggestions my mechanic can't figure it out

could be the wheel needs balancing or a broken belt in the tire,, look for budging on the tire,, you have snow where you are? you could have some snow or ice packed inside of your rim

btw if you bought this car from a dealer they should be taking care of the problem for you

There is a service bulletin about that particular issue, mine was more of a shutter than a vibration.

Had a 96 ford explorer which had the same kind of problem. it was due to some water in the tire, i am guessing from a compressor not being drained regularly.Odd as it sounds ,never would have thought to look for that. Good luck.
