I'm pretty sure all cars had ABS by 1998. Look on the brake pedal and the side windows for an ABS label. Also, if you apply your brakes hard enough on a slippery surface you can hear and feel the brake pedal pulsing to confirm the ABS is working.

I'm not too sure. Even though it has 4 wheel disc brakes I floored the brakes yesterday for fun at around 30mph and at least the right wheel(s) locked up and there was very loud tire screeching with a new tire mark in front of my driveway. And I was doing 60-70mph and tried to slow down kind of quickly and one of the right wheels made a screeching sound and the car veered to the right.

Does my 1998 Mercury Sable LS platinum have ABS
