Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car ( Acura 2002RL) overheated and I
replaced the thermostat, but when I parked
with the car still on, it began to get hot
again! I'm curious to what could be making
it run hot again?

I replaced thermostat and filled it up. The levels are ok, what else could be the issue? I drove for 30min no over heating. But if car is just running in park, it starts to get hot.

Make sure your radiator fan is working sometimes it will not overheat while you're driving as the air moves across the engine but if the fan is not working it will start to overheat at red lights or when stopped I've had this issue on multiple vehicles

Check the radiator both inside and out, clean the cooling coils flush from back to front, with the engine cold look inside, are the tubes plugged, keep in mind tou could have a new bad tstat

Also check to make sure water is flowing in the radiator could be bad water pump be sure to open the radiator when it is cold keep in mind as it gets hot if it overheats it will blow boiling hot water out
