Update: I was able to drive home 20 minutes away from where the warning came on. I unplugged the white cable from the fuse box for 2 minutes and replaced it. The check engine light and the check hybrid system warning went away. I took it on another 20 minute drive and it drives fine and the warning indicators didn't come back. Any advice?

Sorry...I don t have any answer for this..just happened to me today. Check Hybrid System and a few warning lights. Drove home with petrol engine only. Did the white cable handling and it's working fine...charging and discharging (did a quick trip round the block). Had your problem happened since? Wondering it it was just a computer glitch... I just got this message (check hybrid system) from my 2011 Prius (320,000 miles). I also have the check engine light on along with the brake system warning light and slip indicator. They all came on together. The car starts and I am able to move it. I was wondering if I am able to drive the car about 20 miles to the dealer. What was your final result?

Hi. It turned out to be 2 cells in the hybrid battery. One had cracked (probably a pothole and leaked battery acid onto the metal surrounding the battery capacity sing a short) and the cell next to this began to fail. It cost me 400 to get it fixed." The Hybrid fix Co". The guy is on eBay. Nice person. Regards Pete

Hello. So I experienced this same issue yesterday. Luckily I have a Bluetooth ODBII sensor with the mobile app Torque Pro. I did a fault check and it came back with the code P0A80. When searching you will find that this is an alert to replace the hybrid battery pack (it could also just be a few cells that need to be replaced). You may STILL be able to drive the vehicle just using the gas engine BUT once the hybrid battery drops below a certain efficiency level which translates to the overall vehicle efficiency level the system will completely shut down (You will notice the weak vehicle power when the "Check Hybrid System" initiates so don't drive too far from home). Solution: Get a new battery pack (even used). OR Go through the tedious steps of going cell by cell to determine which one or ones have failed (Maybe the Torque Pro can tell you which ones specifically). I immediately and luckily found a used battery pack for my same year vehicle for $300 cash with short warranty (but a warranty nonetheless) and will be having it installed soon. If you try to install it yourself don't forget the safety key and be careful. If you can afford to have a pro install it JUST SPEND THE MONEY. They are insured if they break something else while in the process. Good luck. You have a good day and remember to stay safe and stay healthy.
