OBDII reads car as Ford Explorer, engine runs rough

Asked by Michael Dec 27, 2016 at 09:59 AM about the 1998 Lincoln Navigator 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a problem with my Navigator I'm currently restoring.
Mechanic has replaced coils and sparkplugs, and since then the car runs rough when revving (idle is reasonable, but the engine/car vibrates)
When he connected the computer it recognizes the car as a Ford Explorer, and not a Lincoln Navigator?
There are no fault codes in the computer for misfire etc, only a ABS fault (Master Cylinder needs to be exchanged, waiting for new part).
Anyone have any idea's to the computer reading the car as a explorer and the rough running of the car while no fault codes.
Do I need to reset the computer somehow so it learns the new sparkplugs and coils?

Bad or shorted wires, wrong plugs, plugged not gapped correctly.

plugs are correct for the model and should be properly pre-gapped, but I can always buy different ones. I would have to ask the mechanic if he checked proper gap-distance. Any idea about the computer showing it's a Ford Explorer and not a Lincoln Navigator? Could that cause issues too (software wise I mean) or is that normal.
