There is a security fuse under the hood (mine was blown causing my dash lights to malfunction)The mechanic replaced it with a new one. I asked him what was the purpose of that particular fuse and he said the red light on the dash and other crazy nonsense (ie: who knows, other than one more thing to take it to a dealership to be serviced and charged stupid money for it.) I would think that taking the fuse/s out would render the security unusable. I have a 2005 Aviator with 135k miles. Eats gas, had to replace the gearshift $1200, (common amongst that year), a battery replacement from that security fuse probably pulling on it. One low beam out, dealership wants $203.00 for that. *DIY and $70. on Amazon, $99. at Napa. Those bulbs are Xeon gas or something, do not go by the book, they won't fit. Take bulb out, look at it. Anyway after 2 years pretty good SUV, dash is haunted, lol. Recently, if you accelerate too fast (not by much) the whole dash, ac, radio cut off for about 5 seconds and then comes back on. I told the dealership dont even bother cause I am not paying crazy money for them to find the short. The ONLY thing I would love for this suv not to do is RING LOUDLY, CRAZY LOUD until you put your seatbelts on. Is that what you're trying to accomplish? Let me know. Sue. sbamberger74@gmail.com
