what is the metallic sound coming from my transmission

did you look at the dipstick? was it covered in glitter? how's the transmission level. It is fussy and must be measured in park with the engine running- Take it to the transmission place, have the filter and oil changed-

A better description of the noise would help. I am sure you checked the fluid. Sure it's not a heat shield or inspection cover vibrating/loose.

Unfortunately there is no dipstick to check the trans fluid. you have to raise the vehicle and take out a little plug inside of a big plug and have it idling it park like bob said. so if you do not have access to a lift it would be best to take it to a shop and have them help you with your noise concern. and maybe mrmoony will be right maybe its something simple and not your transmission at all.
