Question type: Car Customization

Please tell me if there is a way to disable this distraction. Its a nice vehicle but between the auto start feature and the ign/door chime ,I now would have looked elsewhere.

Really? You can't close the door to stop the chime? The auto start should be able to be defeated via the menu. Have you even looked at the owner's manual? All newer vehicles have a key in the ignition or open door chime.

Open door chime is industry standard......so not sure what you're complaining about there. As Bob said, the stop/start can be disabled in the menu. Check your owner's manual.

respectfully answering your answers....No you cant permantly disconnect the auto start feature on a 2018 the most you can do is hit the switch everytime you start the car and and I like the door open and the ign. on when sitting out so I can listen to the radio not an obnoxious chime that is coming through the speaker sys. I have been to the dealers and they can't help me

There are a couple of ways you can disable the stop/start. One is to drive the car with the shifter in Sport mode instead of drive. The other requires IDS programming with a reliable OBD-II scan tool (OBDLinkMX is a good one) and Forscan software (free). Most stop/start features are activated depending upon how hard the brake is pushed down and how long it is held. You can also try to brake a little lighter and it may be a work around for you as well.

In my car I can switch off the chime by turning the headlight knob to "Auto".

I agree - its the most annoying feature I have ever dealt with on any vehicle I've driven - and those saying its standard/normalnormal - no it's not. The standard chime has been when car is off, key is in ignition, & you open the door...that's a mild annoyence you can usually eliminate by turning key 1 click closer to on. I have never driven a vehicle where the door chimes when the door is open and the car is in park, but running. When you have a delivery job & your entire morning is spent getting in & out of a running vehicle you'll start to hear that obnoxious chiming in your sleep! And yes, closing door is an option, but as much as I'm in & out of the vehicle I really don't want wear the door/frame so I leave it open as long as im not going far & its still in sight. And closing the door while vehicle is running activates another super obnoxious feature - if u exit vehicle & close the door it holds. So in the wee morning hours, my choices are wake the neighborhood or apt complex with my horn honking every 90 seconds/2mins or drive myself bat shit crazy listening to that obnoxious chiming, that NEVER stops all morning long. The owner of the vehicle should be allowed to disable an annoying feature like that

GuruVB9DN has the solution. Just turn headlights to autolamps.

The chime on my 2017 Escape SE drives me & my wife bonkers! We’d be happy if we could just turn the volume down on it!

The easiest way to shut of door open alarms is just to truck the car into thinking the door is closed. Use one of the old keys on your key chain that you haven’t used in 2 years to flip the door latch closed. Just make sure you undue it by pulling the door handle prior to shutting the door!
