Rattling/ratcheting noises on a cold start up when deceleration followed by the legendary oil consumption, dealership will give the run-around, ford regional managers are trained to lie and usually work with the dealership against you, Ford got you to pay $50K for their stupid design and will try to force you to keep that junk, I suggest everybody go to the court.

Add me to the list. 18 F150, 5.0. 1 quart low at 2200, did the first courtesy oil change around 4000. Have had to add 2 quarts since the first oil change. Getting it into dealer for the oil consumption test but also opened up support case with Ford to have it documented.

I have had a long block change-out at 6000 miles due to oil consumption. 2018 FX 4, 5.0 with a 10 speed . Dealership says it is a ring issue. But my problem is that at the truck makes a popping noise at the shift points. Similar to a back fire pop. Dealer did a TSB that changed the shift points, that didn’t help, just made it shift a little smoother. Then they renewed the engine for oil use..

Hello Nelson, thank you for providing your experience - doesn't sound real good. First, I'm going to see if my engine qualifies for the long block replacement, if so I will explore any and all options to me thru Ford (leaving an electronic 'paper' trail from here to Deerborne). Such a shame, as I really love this truck. Thanks again man.

GuruL8V1C - this is so sad to me, but at this point I cannot blame you one bit for making the switch. Good luck with your new truck man.

Ford is known to eat the oil. had and 83 T Bird, had to baby sit the oil; have a 96 F 150 and it eats the oil. It's in Ford DNA. Don't sweat it!! BUT I really appreciate this information. Now I know the never F 150's have oil issues. BTW, the F 150 series pick up truck is in the top 5 of vehicles made that can last 300,000 miles. best wishes
