Bad fuel economy

Asked by Paul Jan 04, 2018 at 01:56 PM about the 2017 RAM 1500 ST Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: General

I just bought a 2017 Ram 1500
St with six hundred kilometers
on it in the summer it has $4,000
now and my fuel mileage is 24
liters per hundred kilometers it
seems really high and I'm driving
it easy so the Eco stays on most
of the time will get better after a
break in time

That works out to roughly 10 miles per gallon which is bad. Which engine do you have and what type of driving? Have you complained to your Dodge dealer?

Dodge trucks have always had a reputation for poor fuel economy. Is the Multi-Displacement system working or did someone disable it?

I just bought it new from dodge dealership so I'd say it's working. I see the eco light come on and go off when it's supposed to.

I have a 2013 Ram big horn leveling kit installed and aftermarket exaust nothing fancy done to it and ever since I bought it used I’ve had fuel consumption issues it’s gotten bad to the point of 38/L/100s was my average and my eco light never ever has come on and dealership has looked it all over and also told me my 5.7 has the multi fuel displacement but there is no option in the settings to turn the eco on or off and still to this day no eco light as well as when truck gets good and hot after say 1/2hr steady city driving I have severe loss of power at take off untill RPMs reaches just over 2000 I am beyond frustrated and delaer says there is nothing wrong with it someone please help me!!! Thank you in advance

to turn off eco-mode, once in Drive gear down (on your steering wheel or gear shift) and then gear back up to the top gear that your transmission has (in my case it is 8). that will keep it from going in and out of eco mode. the only problem is you have to do this every time you put your car in D. i don’t seem to get any better or worse mileage. i have 2017 Ram Outdoorsman with leveling kit and 275/65/20 oversized tires. i am currently using 17.5 L/100km - mixed city/hwy. i was using 16.5 L/100km with stock 265/70/17. Towing my 26 ft travel trailer i use approx 24 L/100km in mostly mountainous/hwy driving. hope that helps. my buddy has a new stock 5.0L F-150 and says he uses about approx 15 L / 100 km for reference. Ram is bigger engine, heavier truck so i think i’m doing ok...

So I have a 2017 RAM 5.7L hemi with 35" toyo MTs and a 6" lift (6300km - 3/4s of which is highway). I am getting 12mpg. Which in my opinion regardless of tire size it terrible. By comparison I have a 1989 Grand wagonneer with bigger tires and a gutless AMC 360 V8 that gets similar mileage/ Are we all saying that zero improvement in Gas mileage in 30 years is ok?
