Have 2016 with 59700 miles. Just bucked on highway and went into a safety mode. 20 mph max. Towed under GM service to dealer. Just called and said transmission module needs replacing. 306 miles left to factory coverage. Asked if wanted transmission fluid changed for $200 due to suggested service. Said OK. Will see if that cures. No previous shifting or other issue before a failure on the interstate.

So we had the same issues with our 2016 starting around 58k miles. Took it to the local dealer two times -Sullivan Pontiac in Arlington Hts, IL- and they could not make it do it. I went there and they must have done something because I couldn't make it do it either. Now, just after it goes out of mfg warranty (90 miles) - complete failure! "Luckily"(we'll see) we bought an extended warranty that covers it, but per the dealer (Sullivan), if it doesn't, we have to! I WILL NEVER BUY A GM PRODUCT AGAIN OR DEAL WITH THESE GUYS!!! 3rd GM Product to have bad transmissions! 1st 2 were suburbans.

I have a 2016 with the 3.6L V6 That i bought used, since i bought it just a few months ago at 74,000 miles it would get stuck in gear occasionally but within the last week it was happening way more frequently was accelerating onto the highway when i felt it shift weird and then a check engine light came on, immediately brought it to the dealership just to be told that i need a new transmission because clutch pads 1 & 2 are burnt out.

Our 2016 GMC Denali is currently at the dealership. Having the transmission repaired. Of course we're 3 thousand miles over warranty.. ugh The bad thing is that we had absolutely no warning signs, no check engine light, no hard shifting.. nothing. My husband went to take daughter to school and as he backed out of the driveway the check engine light came on. So he drove it through the neighborhood to see what was going on and it went into safety mode on would on go 20 mph. Once the dealership did diagnostics they called and said two parts inside the transmission cracked and it is a 5,000 repair.. I'm beyond disappointed with this vehicle. I will never purchase another one.

I have a 2016 terrain and after weeks of being stuck on the side of the road and having it checked out at different GMC dealers I was told to replace the transmission control module but it that still doesn’t fix the problem then I’ll have to either replace a wire or the transmission itself.

Purchased 2016 GMC Denali AWD (certified Preowned) 16,000 miles March of 2019. In Dec of 2019 took the car in for oil change at around 20,000 miles., to be told the front lower control arm bushings were torn but were under warranty. I had them replaced. I pick up my car and one day later I am having massive fuel consumption, getting * approximately 8-11 mpg, and late /rough shifting in the first two gears. Took the car back to the dealership, was told that the Control solenoid valve and transmission control module assembly needs to be replaced, Milage was at 21,677... Thank God it was under warranty! fast forward to Dec 2020 and I am experiencing the same issue with the late shifting and the exaggerated fuel consumption, and now a new sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The car was taken to the dealership, where I am being told it's my transmission, needs to be reprogrammed and flushed. The rear sound is my lower control arm bushings. and all is under warranty. That's all great, however, what happens when it is not under warranty and the transmission fails completely? Sad GMC wont do the honorable thing.
