car cranks runs in park and neutral dies in drive whats wrong

runs good in park and neutral   putin  drive  goes dead like its out of gas   just put a new
fuel pump in

could be torque converter control solenoid. wont unlock. google its location on your vehicle and unplug it to see if it "fixes". btw, if it works it wont hurt to drive your car with this unplugged, but your gas mileage will suffer a bit.
