I have a 99ford escort Zx2 and recently changed fuel filter and plugs. Now it rough idles and runs rough what more should I be checking and gap size for plugs?

First, spark plug gap for your car is 0.055 inches or. 1.3 mm. Was it running OK before you did that, changed filter and plugs? If so, what made you think it was necessary? IF you changed plugs and were not careful, you may have crossed plug wires and have switched one and it is on the wrong plug. That can happen and the car will run, but very rough and hard to start. Start by checking you have the wires where they belong
