Do you have power to the fuel pump fuse when the motor quits or when trying to start it , This fuse is by the fuel pump relay . It is on a 93 I don't know about a 89 . Where ever the fuel pump relay there should be a fuse . What ever shuts power to the fuse could be your problem , if you find it let me know , I have the same problem .

All the power is there and I put a switch in the cab to turn the fuel pump on it have power to the pump and all my lights and the radio it's almost like it just chokes itself out and it doesn't have the power like it should when driving before it dies either
