2000 chevy 2500 5.7 vortec 4door is my motor blown or is it a head gasket

Truck over heated made clanking noise
went to pull over and it shut off  have
antifreeze coming out of the tail pipes
will still start up when i drop it in gear it
cuts off is my motor shot or is it just
the head gaskets blown

There is no way to know but that sounds really bad. I would probably pull the heads to see what is going on.

If coolant is coming out the tailpipe (Not just regular water condensation) your LS Based engine can have a blown head gasket(heads must be resurfaced and valve guides checked) or a cracked cylinder sleeve or the block itself. The LS engines are great little engines but they will not standup well to overheating. I have seen 5.3l and 6.0l LS with cracked pistons, sleeves just from being overheated. No high RPM are racing. I'm talking 2500 and 3500 work trucks. Tear it alerts and see what's up
