Smoke

Asked by Alexn Feb 12, 2016 at 07:42 AM about the 2000 Hyundai Sonata GLS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just spent last $900 on a 2000 Hyundai Sonata
from private seller. It shifted fine, there was no oil on
the engine or leaking that I could see. Very next day
I started it up and a ton of white smoke was rolling
out from under the car. Basically up near the front
drivers side. After I let it run for about 15 min it was
barely smoking.

check the coolant level...pressure test the cooling jacket...the white smoke is from the coolant...which you may be losin' on that spot under the car...which you'll see when they pump the pressure tester up~

Could it also be some sort of hole in the upper pipes? I believe it's called exhaust. Because there is little to nothing coming out of the actual tailpipe
