I will start at the beginning, if you are asking what Cruise control does. It is a feature you can set to a speed you choose and take your foot off the pedal and the car will remain at that speed, even climbing a hill or going downhill, unless the grade is so steep gravity pulls the car down the road faster than the speed you have chosen with no throttle applied, this can happen on very steep grades. Sorry if you know that and it's just the way your question is worded. Now, when you tap the brake. or apply the brake to stop, or push the clutch in a manual, the Cruise Control is automatically disengaged, but will 'remember' the speed you had it set at and push on "resume" and it will, well, resume the speed. Accel is Accelerate, with cruise Control already set and you want to go faster, push and hold accel until it's at desired speed. Everytime you shut the engine off it will 'forget' all the settings and you have to start over
