2000 ford explorer 4wd the O/D light would blink after a few miles and now it will not go into gear

The O/D light started blinking few weeks ago but would go off and stay off after turning
car off.  Then daughter was driving and after one block car lost gears it now only has park
and neutral.  There is fluid in tranny and have kept up on it.  Looking for direction to go.

Good Advice Tom. My 2003 developed the same exact problem. Light would blink and go out after engine turned off, then would turn on the next day after a while of driving. Called tranny guy. Said the next time it happened (the next day) to immediately proceed to his shop and not turn off the engine. Happened the next day two blocks from the house. Went to the shop, he plugged in a reader, then said; take a seat, read a magazine and it will be ready in an hour. Cost about 85 bucks and I was on my way in thirty minutes.
