My car won't drive above 65MPH?

Asked by Issa May 30, 2017 at 06:03 PM about the 2004 Hyundai Accent GL Sedan FWD

Question type: Car Customization

My car won't go above 65 mph on highway. I checked the trans fluid and it
looks good (reddish purple) so i assume it's not a transmission problem. The
timing belt also was replaced recently (4500 miles ago) so i assume it's not
the belt. Any helpful input will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Are you loosing power or not changing gears? Is the motor continuing to produce power? Is the trans holding the speed down to 65mph? Is it like its hitting the governor?

The trans can have beautiful fluid and not function correctly. May be electrical. From one of the solenoids/sensors/computer or short. If you can have the trans module if its an Auto checked for codes and if your check engine light is on have it checked for codes before going any further.

Thanks for your input. Everything in the car is running fine. None of the lights on the dashboard are on and I can change gear whenever i want. I just don't understand why it won't go above 65. and yes, its an automatic trans. I don't know if the codes check will do it any good since none of the lights are on.

Maybe the Catalytic converter is somewhat restricted? isn't that a possibility?
