What kind of wrench do I need to loosen the ground bolt of the battery on a 2007 Pontiac G6?

I would use a box end wrench or a 6 point socket.

Small crescent adjustable wrench may work, but you need to be careful when using them to avoid rounding off the bolt head. Otherwise do as F_O_R suggested....
