I would assume it either has to do with the ECU, the Engine Control Unit, which is the computer that controls most functions in the car, OR possibly the A/C compressor has seized up. There is a belt that runs along the wheel that drives the compressor for your a/c and if it has seized and locked up, it wont turn when the a/c is turned on and could cause the belt to slow down enough to make the car want to stall. Most times the belt would end up breaking if that happens. But as long as the a/c isnt on then the wheel that drives the compressor is allowed to spin freely. Also it could be the ECU going bad. The ECU has different components of the car running through it and when that begins to go bad it can cause malfunctions for various things that it controls in your vehicle such as the a/c and engine. The easiest way to find a problem like that is with a code reader tool that auto technicians have at the shop. The vehicle will trigger a code that tells the technician what part of the system is malfunctioning. Thats the best way to truly know what is wrong. If you go to a shop a lot of them will offer free diagnostics checks and can tell you whats wrong and what it takes to fix it, they will give an estimate price on repair and you can also check another shop for their estimate to try and get the best price.
