Blown motor or blown head gasket?

Asked by Brittany Jun 13, 2017 at 04:15 AM about the 1998 Honda Civic LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok so im trying to find out if my 1998 honda civic lx
has a blown motor or a blown head gasket im
going to do my best to explain this for people to
understand so first my car was stolen back in
march when it was found i got in it to drive it home
and it wouldn't start up but the motor turns like its
out of gas but i have gas in the car. I was told that
when it was stolen it over heated and cut off and
wouldnt cut back on also i was told i have a sinser
on the car the shuts the car off when it over heats
and hits the red. We put water in it and tried to
start it but the water just runs out of the bottom of
the car at the front driver tire. So ive had someone
come look at it and all they did was pull my oil
stick out smell it and told me my motor blown
cuase it smelled burnt. I also had a few more
people tell me my motors blown and then i got
people saying its my head gaskets blown. I dont
know much about cars but my boyfriend had a
1990 honda hatchback and i drove his over 25
miles over heating in the red and smoking bad and
it didnt blown his motor only his head gaskets. So
can anyone help me on this i need to know if its a
blown motor or head gaskets. Thanks for any help
or advice.

definate head gasket problem but it sounds like the head is warped also your water pump is on driverside behind timing belt cover

Take it to a shop it is that simple it is above your paygrade and i don't mean that in a bad way its just not some peoples calling to fix cars and from that post I would say it isn't yours either
