Check Engine Light Flashing Crazy

Asked by GuruN8GPW Nov 06, 2019 at 01:45 AM about the 1998 Honda Civic EX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 98' Honda Civic Ex. It has started
doin crazy things. I had to replace a Heater
Hose that runs up under the Distributor Cap.
Somehow that same hose... In the same
spot... Ends up the same way. We have cut it
down n replaced it 4 times now. My biggest
thing is my car tried overheating couple
times. The check engine light was always on.
But then after replacing the hose. My ignition
is stuck in the on position. N my purpose
pump is wired to my battery. So I have to
unhook my battery to shut everything down.
Sometimes my check engine light comes on
bout 30 sec from starting the car n flashes
until car is turned off. N other times it comes
on bout 10 mins into driving. It does have
other issues. I really need info. I've had my
baby for 8+ years. She is slowly dien on me. I
Need Her More Now Than Ever.

sounds neglected and codes were never pulled to see what was stored. Overheating can lead to a blown head gasket. Have the codes pulled see what was stored.

It has been. My husband had be only one touch it. I had it put on tester. They showed nothin. Cause the codes reset when battery is unhooked. My ignition got stuck when I went to turn my car off. So only way I can turn my car off is to unhook the battery.
