Why would the Serpintean belt heat up and brake

how many miles are on the car and is it the original belt?

One of your pulleys has siezed and or locked up, causing the belt to rub over it heating it up and breaking. Check all your pulleys, alt, tensioner, PS pump, etc.


A/C compressors are known to lock up
