Transmission in 2000 Honda passport

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Today I got in my car (2000 Honda
passport) and I noticed my transmission
was acting weird, it drives fine until I get to
2RPM then it seems like it's starting all
over agin but after that 2RPM it seems like
the break is on and it takes awhile to
exhilarate. I read on some forms that rain
affects the transmission (it was raining
pretty hard today) I was just wondering if
anyone had any ideals. If I need to re-
explain or go in more detail tell me, any
help would be thankful.

2 RPM is 2000 RPM but thats ok, know what your talking about. So is it the engine having a hard time to gain more rpms after it reaches 2 rpm? Or is it no problem with the engine, but you just do not gain speed, but the rpms keep going up?

Yea automatic, it's not that it's having a hard time after 2rpm. It's just that i can completey feel it shifting into another gear, and it kinda jerks but after that 2 Rpm it seems fine and can get to 40 mph easyly I haven't had the chance to go over 40 today so I can't say if it has problems after 40 mph. It's like it's not a smooth transition between Rpms. (Im a 16 year old I'm trying to figure this out on my own before I take it to the family mechanic and look like an idiot I'm not very hands on with vehicles) i mostly have the problem when I'm starting to go after stopping/ parking. Really appreciate the comment.

I think this is normal shifting of the transmission, but ask your mechanic if the transmission fluid and filter should be changed. It may be due. But so you have the knowledge, and hear that someone suggest a transmission flush, DO NOT HAVE IT DONE! It will create problems with the transmission.

Ok thank you. But I got in this morning and it barely starts and won't get over 2000 rpm at all. I went ahead and called the mechanic. Thank you agin.

Ok, then you do have some engine problems. May just need a going over, tune-up maybe.
