windshield washer

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My washer does not send fluid to the windshield. I filled the reservoir, I can
hear the motor of the washer ejection, but nothing appears. The holes for the
fluid to reach the windshield appear to be free of obstruction. what do I do?

Trace the fluid hose from the fill bottle to the spray nozzle, make sure there are no cracks or the hose hasn't separated. If the hose is good, pop it off the spray nozzle and run the pump and see if it sprays out of the hose. If it does, the nozzle is plugged up. You can pop the nozzle off, either clean it or replace it. Auto parts stores sell a pack of various types of nozzles that will replace most manufacturers. If nothing sprays out with the nozzle removed, then check inside the fill bottle and make sure the little hose inside it is in place and can reach the fluid. If the hose broke somewhere along the line, get a slightly larger hose to act as a sleeve and hold the two ends together.

Check to see if the fluid is leaking from the main hose or the hoses leading to the windshield jets. Try removing the main hose from the fluid reservoir, blow compressed air into it and see if any fluid come out from the jets.
