Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe sport and when I open the doors the front dome light turns on but the rear one doesn't If I press the On button it works normal but not when opening the door, the front one works just fine and the dome light button is set to 'Doors"

The problem must be in the rear dome light switch since the bulb is good otherwise. The rear light is acting like it is turned off, even when it should be turned on by that switch in the "doors" position. Check to see if you have power to the switch with the door open. If you do then the doom switch is bad. I know that some cars have delays which keep the lights on after the door closes for a short period of time, but I have never seen lights stay off unless the dome switch is bad or the wire to the switch has been damaged.

I recently bought a test light just to see what was going on, when I close the door there is no power to the dome light but if I press the switch the test light turns on along with the bulbs. But when I open the door the rear dome light doesn't light up, I found out with the test light that even if they are not on t if the doors are open they are getting power in one side of the metal clamps that holds the bulb, but when I touch the other side of the clamps or move it with the test light they flicker like they wanna turn on.

Electricity is invisible, but you can see a problem with the test light. The switch is getting power, but it is not transferring the power to the light bulb because the bulb holder is not working as it should. Clean (rough) up the contacts on both sides where the bulb plugs in and see if the problem disappears. You may need a new light fixture from the dealer.

yeah I had to buy the dome light assembly from the dealer thank god it was cheap, the problem was a dead Diode, They told me I could take it out and solder a new one but I just bought the whole thing cause it only cost 20 bucks
