pulled off 2 spark plug wires to my motor and there was no change in the motor. How is that possible?

Logic would say those two cylinders weren't doing anything to make the motor run. My question is how can a two cylinder engine even run with half the cylinders going along for a free ride? Pull off the other two and see what it does.
