Best place to sell a seized vehicle?

Asked by tyler May 21, 2021 at 01:57 PM about the 2016 Mazda MAZDA3 i Grand Touring Hatchback

Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

I am running into a financial bind and might have to get rid of my vehicle.  It
currently has a transmission issue that is seizing the engine.  I'm hoping to
get it looked at this weekend, but I may need the money from the vehicle if I
don't get it running in the next couple of weeks.  As a 2016 Mazda 3 with
20,000 miles on it, KBB lists it for around $16,200.  I would imagine if I
absolutely have to sell it in its current condition, I'd probably get 10k? I can't
scrap it because they'd only give me 1300 or so.  But if I'm in a pinch for
money quickly, what is the best way to get rid of my vehicle quickly while
making it a good bang for my buck?

Scrap value is about it. Ten grand is delusional.

Scrap value is only about $250. Selling the vehicle with a major repair needed will be next to impossible unless you're willing to let it go for a few thousand dollars, if that. If you can borrow the money to get it fixed by a reputable transmission shop I'd suggest you do that. You'll still need transportation to get to work or if you need to get a new job you'll need transportation to go job hunting. The vehicle is only 5 years old with low mileage on it. I think it's worth fixing. At least for now until you get past this tough spot in your life. Good luck to you! Hope that helps! Jim
