Did I get ripped off for buying a 2016 BMW 528i?

I need to add that there were 2 previous owners. 1 for a short lease and the 2nd for the remaining two years. All of the maintenance records checked out. Inside looks brand new. The remaining parts of car look good except for a scratch or two which the repair shop were going to also fix. There are brand new tires on the car as well. I do realize that I probably paid 2k more than what I should have but now I need more input from you guys on what I should do next.

You were not ripped off . It is not like the seller hid the rock chips. Is this a BMW factory warranty or one of the rip off types that are advertised on TV and radio? Evidently you are obsessive about such things (not saying this is bad) so I would sell it and buy a new or nearly new car rather than waste all that money on a repaint.

Thanks for your response. I bought the warranty through BMW when I purchased the car from them. I was considering getting it refunded to put toward the repair but don’t think that is a better option than just getting another car. I’m afraid I’ll lose another 2-3k getting rid of the car. So I’m going to lose either way just depends on how much.

Better to lose a couple of grand than to spend over 9 grand on a repaint. I would not bank on getting a refund!

I have already requested a refund of extended warranty and I will receive a 100% refund of 4k, which was overpriced in the first place. In the fine print of warranty, you can cancel any time during the duration of warranty taking into account any repairs that would be deducted. What makes it easier is that the dealership will handle the refund since they issued it. The paint job isn't 9k but still expensive at 4k, the headlights are 2k a piece. I'm no longer considering the headlights being done as I can live with them as they are.

Good for you. A number of people have complained here that they could not get a refund. Try some polishing compound on the headlights. Try Meguair's.

Kbb.com says the vehicle is worth about $15,393. It has way too many miles on it and the price to repair the cosmetic damage isn't worth it, in my opinion. Some States have a cooling off period law that allows you to cancel or back out of a major purchase such as a house or vehicle. Check with your local Office of Consumer Affairs about that. I'm glad you got a refund on the extended warranty, that's good!! But it sounds like you let your emotions get in the way of your purchase and now you have buyer's remorse! Js08016, you are correct I found that out after the fact because I didn’t see all of the rock chips so blue book had the price within the range for excellent/great condition with the miles. Yes I think there is a 3 day cancellation and of course I fell out of that window. I should have cancelled but I didn’t think the repairs would be too costly. I was able to repair the rock chips on my X6 for $200 so I was thinking the repair wouldn’t be too much above that. The difference is there are too many rock chips to repair so I have the replace the front bumper. I’ve taken it to multiple shops. Definitely a lesson learned cause I’m normally good with my car purchases. Smh!
