Is it legal for a dealership advertising with you to raise their price from $28,000 to $29,500 because I arranged my own financing with Bank of America? Smells of illegal.

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Is it legal for a dealership advertising with you to raise their price from $28,000 to $29,500 because I arranged my own financing with Bank of America?  Smells of illegal.   That is what Karp just tried to do to me.  Will no longer deal with them.  I am NOT litigious, but would like to know if their action is even legal.

When they do the financing they get a kickback. They basically took that kickback they lost and added it to your car. Not sure if it's illegal, but it's certainly unethical. Never go car shopping with one model in mind, always know what the comparison model is for other makes. Research the extra fees they try to charge you. Never tell them what your limits are in price or payment. Watch what you sign and say, never give them permission to pull your credit. Whenever they ask you those questions, ask them a question instead of answering. Don't give them your address, doc sec# or drivers license. They can't pull a credit report without that info. And if they say it won't effect your credit they are lying!. Also the longer a car sits on the lot, the more it is costing them. Also if you want a Buick enclave you don't need to buy it from a Buick dealer, check out the inventory of other dealerships for one. They will probably give you a better price to get another make and model off the lot.
