2015 Camry XSE 91,100 miles

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have 2015 Camry XSE with 91100 and I'm having a
strange issue. The car dose not want to start when it's
warmer than 69 degrees outside. When it's cooler the car
starts right on up. When I'm using the car in the middle of
the day and stop for a quick bite and come back, the car
won't start. It's really frustrating because sometimes I have
to wait about 1 or 2 hrs so the car can finally start. The car
has no error codes on the dash. Any idea what can be
causing this? I read online in a forum that this can be
caused by the ECT sensor. I replaced the ECT sensor and
issue still persists. Could use some professional insight.

Correction, more like 80 degrees and above dose this issue occur, or if I use the car for a while an hour or more, and I turn it off. If I wait more than 10_15 min it will not turn back on if warm outside. I have had the battery checked n it checked out just fine. I have also checked the fuses for the starter seemes to be fine. Maintenance has been kept up too date. Just recently did an oil change at 89,799. Should I just trade it in?

I would change the starter. When the starter is warm the armature swells and prevents the starter from starting. When cold the armature shrinks and the starter will start.

Is it common for a car that is only 5 years old to have starter issues so recent?

A starter can go out anytime it chooses. It also depends on where it is located. On the '85 to '93 Ford Escorts the starter is right behind the catalytic converter with no heat shield. Life expectancy was 2 to 3 years cause it would literally burn out cause of the extreme heat from the catalytic converter. 5yrs is pretty good.
