2014 Ford F150 Raptor no electrical

Asked by mbozick Jun 06, 2018 at 05:47 PM about the 2014 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor SuperCrew 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2014 Ford F-150 Raptor and last week I was driving on the freeway
at 85mph and I received a message that said shift to park.  As I slowed down
to pull off the car completely shut off (electronics and all) at 40mph.  I was
able to shift into neutral and pull to the side of the road turn the key off and
back on and got nothing. The car was towed and been at ford for over a
week and they have nothing.

The message you see would seem to indicate there is a malfunction in the Park Detect Switch, which is part of the shifter assembly. I have seen the problem on Explorers of your vintage and other Fords, first time I have heard of the problem in the pickup. The problem usually occurs on models with a console shifter. For those models you can usually pull the trigger on the console rapidly several and it will turn the light off. If it is the Park Detect Switch, it is part of the shift mechanism and has to be replaced as an entire unit. Probably a couple of hundred bucks for the part alone.
