Accessory power is always on (cig.lighters, radio, etc.)

Asked by Schlockmiester May 23, 2018 at 01:29 PM about the 2014 Ford F-150 FX4 SuperCab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My accessory power is always on. My Ford dealer said it should not be but
suggested I check ignition switch relays. He also suggested that a previous
owner may have bypassed one. Without a service manual, how can I find which
one?

All I can tell you is my wiring diagrams for your cigar--power point outlets and battery voltage for audio, hot all the time. They are fuse protected. Maybe because you said accessory power may have thrown the person off? I can only go by what my database shows. bbbind.com has free wiring diagrams, check it out.

Is the truck over 50,000 miles/five years since purchased? If not, it is still under factory warranty, dealer should take care of repair. Inside the fuse box located in the cabin are two fuses that you may want to check, #101, 30amp for the starter solenoid and #102, 20amp for the ignition switch feed.
