2014 Chevy Malibu LS Battery Voltage & Alternator

Asked by Alicia Feb 07, 2018 at 11:25 AM about the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu LS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

About 2 weeks ago I drove home from work with
no issues when I turned the car off after parking
and opened the door, I noticed my radio didn't shut
off as normal. So I decided to try and start the car
and It wouldnt start. We disconnected the batteries
and reconnect no change. We used voltage meter
to check all battery mounted fuses, found one that
had blown. Replaced fuse car started right up.
However the check engine light was on and the
screen continued to tell me to service vehicle soon.
Has code read. Said to replace battery. Decided to
have both battery and alternator checked battery
reads good. Alternator reads bad voltage regulator.
Replaced alternator Saturday as well as did an oit
change. Check engine light comes on Monday. Had
code read. Said service engine soon light is on.
Well duh. No help! Decided to check battery and
new alternator. Well battery shows good. New
alternator reads bad voltage regulator. Battery
voltage reading 15.3 this morning, 14.9 yesterday
evening. I'm back to square one. Something is
causing the short. What should I do now?

I have the same issue with my 2014 Malibu turbo. New battery and next day every shut down. Tomorrow I will take a look at it. I will let everyone know what it is. If you need help with that same car. You can text at 2407043304. I basically did everything with this car. And leaning on the way. Been a mechanic for 10 years never had this many problems with any car bit this one. Every thing is computerized with this car and the snapon scanner cost me out the ass. But it will pin the problem.
