Ford Escort ZX2 2002 Fan not working

The other day i was on my way home when my tire
blew out. While changing the tire my car started
over heating. The fan was just replaced and yet it
wasnt on. There was a loud gurgling noice
comeing from the radiator and steam. I was
looking at it this morning and started the car the
fan still would not start. I refilled the coolant tank,
and im geting ready to try it again. Some one told
me to try turning on the ac and see if the fan runs
ill check that when i start it again. When i started it
earlier the raidiator didnt make the gurgling sound
but the temp gauge in the car also didnt budge its
resting below the cool point. Any advice?

Update: did the AC test the fan did not kick on. So how do i check the relay, wires and temp sensor. PS: when i turned off the AC there was a hissing noice coming from around the right back side of the engine area

you changed the tire with the car running ?

My mom left the car running while i changed the tire, but that shouldnt make a diffrence it only took like 15 min to change it out, i had trouble finding the crank bar for our jack

you had someone replace the fan ? why ? seems the fan isn't getting power , things should be tested before replacing them , now that it has overheated a few times you may have problems with the head gasket ,

The motor in the old fan went out. Its not showing signs with a head casket problem the thermostat is working the fan just isnt running. When driving the temp dosnt get too high. We are thinking of just hooking up a toggle switch to run the fan. We going to get a mulit meeter to check the wires and temp sensor

The only sign for a blown gasket is the overheating. There is no coolant leak, or loss. No bubleing in the radiator or change in collor of the oil.

instead of hooking up that toggle you can buy a new sensor , start the car and let it reach operating temp. the fan should come on if it starts getting warm eventually , it may take a while ,. After splicing , running wires and having to turn it on and off you'll find a toggle switch to be a bad route , get the thing running normally .

Got it figured out. The thermostat housing was changed by the original owners so it took a min to find the right sensor. The old one burnt out because theres a short in one of the leads up to the fan. Also got some nice burns on my hand and face because i pulled the sensor out thinking it was cool enough and it wasnt. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Good to hear , live and learn , another thing is the plastic fins on the fan get razor sharp from whooping road grime around , FYI
