2014 ford focus se

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2014 ford focus check engine
comes on a few times a week, never
stays on more than a day. When I
start the car after filling up on gas it
chokes and dies if I don't give it some
gas. The engine is also not as quiet
as it used to. Mechanic only says its a
focus thing. Anybody had this
problem? If its simple I'd like to fix it
myself. Also, a common thing with
these cars is the doors are messed
up, ignition modules aren't that great,
and my radio doesn't work.

If vehicle chokes out may try changing fuel filter and also if you use regular unleaded all the time try using the middle or high grade gas if check engine light is coming on when vehicle gets to a 1/4 tank of gas use the middle grade gas ( high test if you prefer but middle grade will work as well ) do this for about 5-6 tank fulls then go back to using the regular unleaded but using the middle grade every 3-4 times you get gas. Using the middle grade gas will clean the oxygen sensors.

I had the same problem but it's just where you are using regular gas instead of the flex fuel that you can also use in it. My engine light came on after I put regular gas in it, I got it checked out, and its just the oxygen sensor but nothing was wrong with it. After the first few times, it never came back on. I think it's just something to do with it being an optional flex fuel car.
