to crank and when I press the gas sometimes

It could be a few things 1. Evap System lines not just cap along with the Purge valve(I would check this first) but it would have a rough idle. 3. Fuel Vapor Sensor 4. Do you smell gas when this happens ? What if you let it sit for 15 minutes

Sounds like the purge valve for the EVAP system is stuck open. When this happens gas can be forced into the engine during refueling and flood the engine. Pressing the accelerator pedal to the floor while cranking puts the computer in clear flood mode to help the engine start. Hope that helps! Jim
