Car shakes bad!

Asked by Blake Jan 30, 2015 at 05:56 PM about the 2006 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I know I'm stupid for doing this but I
was just having some fun and I was
doing donuts in gravel. I wasn't
drifting I was just straight up doing
donuts for a good 45 seconds and
now my car shakes. It's something I
bent or broken in the suspension.
I've washed my brakes out plenty of
times and it's not my tires. Car
shakes not too bad but when I get to
about 45mph it starts to get pretty
bad. And when I get up to 60 it's so
bad that it shakes my whole dash
and my seats and everything. I only
feel comfortable going about 50 and
this gets really annoying especially
on the highway. I want to know what
is wrong so I can get it fixed. Thanks
in advance.

I took it to gateway tire company and they said it was my tires. I've checked my tires and they seem fine. I think they just want me to spend some $$$$ on some tires lol

You either broke a belt in a tire or you bent a wheel or axle. Doing immature dumb stuff is sometimes expensive, but I'll bet it was fun.

When a belt breaks IN a tire you don't really see it but if you jack the car up and rotate the tire, you can usually feel a "bump" in the tread. Also, you might have a buddy follow you to the point of bounce and see if he sees anything. If it is not tires, you may have bent a rim or a tie rod. Can you tell if it is coming from the front tires or rear. Can you isolate just one wheel by feel?
