Rear Axle Compatability

Asked by Gigamac24 Oct 04, 2019 at 11:54 AM about the 2004 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently had an incident where an impact was directly onto my driver's side
rear wheel. Basically I need a new rear axle assembly. Luckily for me, there
are countless online but I was wondering since I have a 04 P71 with a 3.27,
would a regular civilian/marauder/grand marquis of the same year with a
3.27 fit into it fine? I have heard some talk about splines and U-Joints not
being compatible and such. Thank you for your Information.

No do not put in a regular car rear differential. The P71’s are made to run the 3.27 without traction control.
