89 ford keeps cranking

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Put new starter switch and sylinoid/ relay on
fender by battery  worked fine for 3 days  and
starter just starts spinning going down the
highway     could it have anything to do with the rod
Inthe collum? Thanks in advance

If you're talking about the ignition switch linkeage rod it's possible but not likely, I only say that because it takes bit of pressure to activate the ignition switch and the rod doesn't weigh enough to push the switch. Check the wires on the solenoid follow the one marked "s" as far as you can to be sure it's not rubbed through into another wire. Was this the reason you changed the parts in the first place?

I changed the switch under the dash on the steering columnand been 3 days hasn't tried to crank unassisted yet thanks for the advice
