Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 89 F150 with a in-line 6 and 5
speed transmission. The transmission is
the F2TA KA CO66495 and I found a new
transmission which is the F2TA KA
A747426. My question is will the A7 bolt up
to my motor. It is a 5peed as well

My reference material I have from working in auto theft investigations is spotty and not complete from what I still possess. Here is what I found which contradicts with what you state you have. The Ford F2TA KA is an automatic transmission with electric speed sensor. It was used in Ford 4 X 2 pickups (all engines) from 1992 to 1996, which does not jive with the year of your truck (1889). If memory serves the remaining letter and number probably indicates the individual serial number. Assuming my data is accurate there may have had a tranny swap into your vehicle sometime in the past. I would make a visual inspection of bolt up patterns and length of unit before making a decision.
