My 1988 Town Car headlights dont work until you pull the high beam lever on but they dont stay on

Either the low beams are not working or the headlight switch is bad. As Tom suggested check the bulbs also check for loose connections and chaffed or broken wiring.

1988 LTC, and the reason that the high beam lamps fail to STAY on is because the twighlight sentenal / auto dim knobs have been activated... There are two (2) turn-knobs behind the MAIN "pull-out/push-in" headlamp switch. Try rotating them to the OFF position. THIS is what I found to be the answer to the EXACT SAME problem I was having.
