Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just recently bought a new battery since my old one is more than 2 yrs old.  Attached the terminal correctly and when i tried to crank it there was no power at all.  I mean no electricity and the windows, lights, radio and even the hazard light are not working.  I want to go about in checking it myself but I dont know where to start.  Car belongs to my dad and I want to keep and maintain it as long as I could.  Please help.

assuming everything was working before, and assuming your new battery is good, then it sounds like a connection problem. check them all. especially the ground. check both ends.
