2003 Ford Escape electrical

Hi I was driving my for escape when for no reason all the dash lights come on
and all the gauges speed rpms went to max what could be wrong thank you

That is usually the first sign that the alternator is going out but not enough to light the red battery symbol warning icon.

Thanks Peter might try changing alternator and battery because battery light comes on when the heater is on sometimes thanks again :)
