No spark after washing2020

Asked by Dylan Jul 29, 2020 at 03:48 AM about the 1988 Toyota Pickup 2 Dr SR5 4WD Standard Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

88 22re toyota pickup . Bought this little truck the other day
from a friend that drove it every day. I drove it 10 miles
home, pressure washed it real good, light misted under
hood, and when I started it had an awful miss. In a few
minutes it's like it ran out of gas. Slowly stopped making
fire. Until ultimately it will only turn over and over. I have
been over everything as that I know how. It has newer coil
and igniter but I dont think I'm getting any power to that
however my rotor is spinning.
I'd really appreciate you guys

Take the distributor cap off and spray inside the cap and everything on the distributor with WD-40 then put it back together, take each sparkplug wire off and spray them where they go into the cap as well as at the plugs wait 5 min and it should start.

Yup, the ignition system is wet. As Peter said plus it might be time for a tune up too! Hope that helps! Jim
