Yes gut the door and change door panel and secure wiring to prevent wires cutting,pinching,and elec fires

Late I know but you could also (for about the same amount of work trouble shoot you current set up and see if a simple connection or switch problem is the cause of you malfunction. As you are going to open up the door panels you may see the cause (fried wire or ?) HTH Good Luck
