I have a 1996 Dodge avenger 2.5L V-6. That just turns off when driving

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When driving the car it will just turn off once it gets hot but if I just let the car sit and run it will run for hours in my drive way. I replaced the distributor, button and cap. I replaced the crank shaft sensor. I replaced the fuel pump. I replaced the gas cap as well and still doing the same thing. When I bought the distributor the guy said there was two sizes. The one I had in the car was the smaller size but he said both would work so I put in the larger one. Any ideas out there? I really am lost here.

Do NOT trust guys in parts stores. The will sell you anything and say it works, Make sure it's the right one. If there are two sizes, one is for your car and the other is not. And at the price of gas, spend a few bucks to do this instead of letting it idle for long periods of time, not to mention it could overheat unattended. By the way, where is it? I am going to steal it. It's running already....just kidding but I think you get my point. Best of luck
