Oil pressure gauge drops to zero

My 97 Dakota has had an oil pressure gauge issue,since I bought it a year
ago.The gauge drops to zero when stopped and it happens while driving
sometimes.Also the engine sounds like the lifters are rattling.

OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT I say that because I’m my experience oil pump would mean no pressure at all period meaning engine failure but since being able to drive smoothly. the oil pressure sending unit/regulator on the other hand will make the dash portion not work that is where I would start that’s what solved my problem hope it helps someone
